When I woke up on Saturday trust me, the last thing I wanted to do was to go riding; I was tired, attitudinal and downright lazy. Being in this for the long hall, there was no way that I would trash another day so I pushed off and decided to ride in the late afternoon and boy was I happy to have done so. Within 5 minutes of riding I was able to see two of my friends that I hadn't seen since I moved back to DC from the West Coast and after seeing them I was totally reenergized. I took the Mt Vernon Trail, watched planes land in Va. rode to Crystal City and then found a park that I had never seen before and had a great day of picture taking, riding and discovery. While the ride wasn't long at all, it was as fulfilling as my 60 miler.
The moral to the story: Press on, there may be someone that will encourage you to do what is needed without them even knowing it. I'd like to give a special thanks to David and his lovely wife Julie for the conversation and the push to ride on…
